Blightstone Tips: How to Play and Win More Runs

Blightstone gameplay showing tips for beginners

The fastest way to win more Blightstone runs: protect the Earthglass Crystal above everything else, use your two action points every turn, and position heroes in cover before you attack. Do those three things and your runs stop ending early. Here is the full beginner playbook.

How to play Blightstone step by step

  1. Guard the crystal first. The Earthglass Crystal is a party member and a loss condition. Keep it back, screened by your front-line heroes, and never leave it exposed to ranged enemies.
  2. Spend both action points. Each hero has two action points per turn for moving or using skills. Wasting one is wasting half a turn — plan movement and attacks together.
  3. Fight from cover. The map is gridless and environments matter. Use tall grass and terrain to break line of sight and soak fewer hits.
  4. Bank resources for campfires. Resources earned in battle are spent at campfires for healing and upgrades. Don’t blow them on marginal skill activations when you need the heal.
  5. Build a composition, not a pile of heroes. Recruit heroes that cover each other — a tank to hold the front, damage to clear threats, support to keep the crystal alive.
  6. Die on purpose early. It’s a roguelite. Early deaths unlock skills and items that carry into later runs, so treat your first few attempts as scouting.

Common beginner mistakes

Over-extending to grab loot, ignoring weather and terrain, and forgetting the crystal are the three fastest ways to lose. Slow down, clear threats to the crystal first, then push.
