Over the Hill is a laid-back off-road exploration game released on October 14, 2026, where you drive classic 4×4 vehicles through vast wilderness at your own pace. It is the follow-up from the studio behind art of rally, and it trades racing for a cozy “journey, not the destination” road trip.
What is Over the Hill?
Over the Hill drops you into open wilderness — forests, lakesides, and mountains — in iconic off-road vehicles from the 1960s to the 1980s. There is no fixed goal or plot. You explore, find points of interest, and tackle terrain that can be relaxing one minute and genuinely tricky the next. Dynamic weather and a day/night cycle shape every drive, and an atmospheric soundtrack carries the vibe.
Who made Over the Hill?
It was developed by Funselektor Labs (led by designer Dune Casu), the studio behind the acclaimed stylized racer art of rally, with Strelka Games co-developing. Over the Hill launched with 1.2 million Steam wishlists, one of the bigger indie debuts of the month.
When did Over the Hill release?
Over the Hill launched on PC (Steam, Windows and Linux) on October 14, 2026. Versions for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2 are planned for 2027.
How to start playing
Pick a vehicle, choose automatic or manual transmission, and just start driving. Cabins act as fast-travel and repair points, crates unlock cosmetics, and a winch lets you pull yourself out of mud, water, and steep climbs. You can play solo or bring up to three friends along in online co-op.
